Tula’s Institute, the Engineering and Management College, added another feather to its cap when the Nodal Centre for Virtual Labs, in association with the IIT, Roorkee, was inaugurated on its premises.
The Centre was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of Uttrakhand Technical University, Prof. (Dr.) P.K.Garg, and the Deputy Director of IIT Roorkee, Prof. (Dr.) Vinod Kumar.
Virtual labs are a venture of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India, under its National Mission on Education through Information & Communication Technology (NMEICT).
The main purpose behind this project is to improve the standards of laboratory and practical training imparted to engineering students. The state-of-the-art laboratory facility in all disciplines of engineering currently exists at IIT Delhi, IIIT Hyderabad, IIT Bombay and a few other. Here students can access and perform experiments at the lab of their choice at their preferred time slots.
Virtual Labs would cater to students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as to research scholars. It would assist students in learning basic and advanced concepts through remote experimentation.
Students can also gain remote-access to Labs in various disciplines of Science and Engineering. The biggest advantage is they would be able to share expensive equipment and resources, which are otherwise available only to a few users due to time and geographical constraints.
With this achievement, Tula’s Institute has become the only authorized college to conduct a workshop for virtual labs. It has become the first nodal centre for Virtual labs in Uttrakhand.
The session was attended by the Chairman of Tula’s Institute, Mr. Sunil Kumar Jain, Vice President Mr. Raunak Jain and Executive Director Ms. Silky Jain.
