What The IPR Cell Does

• IP Awareness and Education: The cell conducts workshops, seminars and training sessions to create awareness among students, faculty and staff about intellectual property rights and their significance — fostering a culture of respect for IP and encouraging innovation.
• IP Evaluation and Protection: It assists researchers and inventors in identifying inventions, discoveries and creative works with potential for IP protection, guiding them toward the most suitable form — patents, copyrights, trademarks or trade secrets.
• Patent Filing and Prosecution: The cell supports drafting patent applications, specifications and claims, working closely with inventors, researchers and patent attorneys to ensure accurate and timely filing, and coordinates prosecution procedures.
• IP Commercialization and Licensing: It facilitates commercialisation of IP assets, explores licensing agreements and connects innovators with industry partners and investors, while protecting the rights of inventors.
• IP Policy Development and Compliance: The cell helps formulate IP policies and guidelines, ensures compliance with legal and ethical standards, and manages contractual obligations such as sponsored research agreements.
• IP Portfolio Management: It maintains a comprehensive record of intellectual property assets generated by the institute's faculty, researchers and students — tracking and protecting them throughout their lifecycle.
