Microsoft India Appfest 2013

More than hundreds of students in Uttarakhand got together at Tula’s Institute – The Engineering and Management College, to develop apps for the Windows platform. The content for today’s AppFest was specifically designed for engineering and technical students whichhelped them in building Windows Phone and Windows 8 Apps.

India AppFest is a unique opportunity for students to build apps for the Windows platform. This event enabled the students to learn about the latest Microsoft tools and technologies and get a practical, hands-on experience in building software applications for Windows 8 and Windows Phone. Today saw many young developers code under the supervision of Microsoft mentors, trainers and Microsoft Student Partners (MSPs), and submit the app online – an opportunity to make it available on the Windows Store after due diligence.

It is notable to know that Tula’s Institute since its inception in 2006 has always been at the fore-front of change and is thus regarded as one of the ‘Best Engineering college in Dehradun’. Tula’s Institute over the past few months has already conducted various Microsoft Events with the recent being Microsoft Web-camp that was headed by the famous Technical Evangelist of Microsoft Corporation Mr. Brady Gaster. The management of Tula’s has been instrumental in ensuring the students get a right blend of practical hands on experience and this has over the years results in Tula’s Institute being ranked among thetop engineering college in Uttrakhand

Microsoft provided students at each of the hubs with free software such as Visual Studio Express for Windows 8, and with free Windows Store registration codes through Microsoft DreamSpark.  The focus was on broad-based consumer applications, incorporating education, games, apps for social good etc.

Speaking on the occasion Ms. Silky Jain Head Corporate Relations Tula’s Institute stated, “The students got a lifetime opportunity to not only submit their apps for evaluation for a chance to get on the Microsoft Store but at the same-time the training and experience the students received during the web-cast series will play a vital role in to boost the students’ employability.”

“Thoroughly enjoyed being a part of todays event at Tula’s Institute. The event was choreographed to perfection. Kudo’s to Microsoft and the entire team who made it all possible stated”, Raman Singh (software developer).
